Ahmednagar: Journalist Advocate Bal Bothe mastermind behind NCP activist Rekha Jare’s murder

Pune: Police investigations into the murder case of NCP leader Rekha Jare revealed that senior journalist Advocate Bal J Bothe was the mastermind and paid blood money to other suspects to execute her.

Rekha Bhausahb Jare, a 39-year-old leader and activist associated with the Nationalist Congress Party was murdered by two motorcycle-borne persons in Ahmednagar district on Monday.

Rekha was president of the Yashaswini Mahila Brigade, a local organisation working for women’s welfare.

The incident took place around 8.20 pm on Monday (November 30) when Rekha Jare was travelling from Pune to Ahmednagar in a car along with her mother, son and a friend, a police official said.

The arrested suspects have been identified Feroze Raju Shaikh (26) of Rahuri, Dnyaneshwar Shivaji Shinde (24) of Shrirampur, Aditya Cholke (25) of Kolhar, Sagar Bhingardive (31) of Kedgaon and Rishikesh Pawar (23) from Pravaranagar. All the suspects have been demanded in police custody till December 7.

Interrogation of arrested suspects, especially Bhingardive revealed that journalist Advocate Bal J Bothe is the prime suspect and mastermind in this case. Bothe had paid blood money to Bhingardive to execute Jare.

According to the cops, the accused chased the vehicle, moved ahead and stopped her vehicle by parking their two-wheeler in the middle of the road. She was called on the road after which the accused and victim further had an argument.

The accused then allegedly pulled out a knife and slit Jare’s throat following which she collapsed and died on the spot.

Superintendent of Police Manoj Patil briefed media persons about the case. “Bothe is on the run and police teams have been formed to nab him,” Patil informed media persons.
