ACB Trap News | A clerk in the Assistant Registrar’s office in Velhe walks into ACB trap for demanding Rs 50,000 bribe to facilitate money lending licence process

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  ACB Trap News | The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a clerk from the Assistant Registrar’s (co-operative societies) office in Velhe for demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 to prepare a proposal and follow up the same to procure the money lending licence. This action was taken on Friday. The clerk has been identified as Pandharinath Machhindranath Tamnar. The complainant was seeking the money lending licence. Hence, they visited the Assistant Registrar’s office in Velhe, where clerk Tamnar told them that he would prepare a proposal for the licence and take its follow-up at the District Registrar’s office. He demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 for the work. The complainant did not want to pay the bribe. So, they complained to the ACB, Pune.

 

An ACB team verified the complaint on May 29 and found that the clerk had demanded Rs 30,000 for himself and Rs 20,000 bribe to prepare the proposal for the money lending licence and follow up the same at the District Registrar’s office. He asked the complainant to deposit the bribe money in the account of a third person. The ACB, Pune registered a complaint under the Anti-Corruption Act at the Velhe Police Station and arrested Tamnar.

 

PI Sandeep Varhade is investigating further. The action was taken by the team of ACB, Pune under the guidance of ACB Pune SP Amol Tambe and Addl SP Sheetal Janve.
