4 Computers engineers abuse, manhandle traffic cop after being caught riding triple seat

The Kondhwa police station under Pune city police have arrested four persons including a woman for allegedly manhandling and abusing a woman head constable from the traffic branch, after she stopped them for riding triple seat on bike.

The incident took place around 10 am on Saturday in front of the Kondhwa traffic division. After being produced in the court, the accused were denied bail and sent to the Yerwada Central Jail.

The accused persons have been identified as Anwar Irfan Mandal (age-26), Rafiur Irfan Mandal (age-21), Rupam Jiaul Mandal (age-21), Ayesha Anwar Mandal (age-23), all natives of West Bengal, who lived here in Yevalewadi. In this case, Kondhwa traffic branch’s police constable Alka Rajendra Kamble has lodged a complaint with the Kondhava police station.

Police head constable Alka Kamble, Prashant Pilankar, ASI Jadhav, Sonawane were managing traffic in front of their office. At that time, the three men were riding triple seat on a Pulsar motorcycle. Kamble stopped them and asked for license and the documents from the driver. However, the accused got enraged and started arguing with the cop. They claimed that the police woman has no right to check their documents and threatened make her video and put it on social media. The accused had also called Ayesha who also misbehaved with the constable.

They were taken Kondhwa police station and an FIR was registered against them for offences under sections 353 (obstructing a public servant from discharging official duty), 352 (punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation ), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The accused were arrested and brought to Kondhwa police station. Senior police inspector of Kondhava police station, Milind Gaikwad, inquired about them. The four arrested accused are computer engineers and they are running a BPO call center in Camp area. While the four were produced before the court, the court rejected their bail application and remanded them to Yerwada jail.

Inspector Gaikwad said that its a non-bailable offence to obstruct public servant from discharging official duty.
