32-year-old senior MSEDCL technician dies by suicide

PUNE: A 32-year-old technician allegedly died by suicide at the MSEDCL office at Narhe-Dhayari in Sinhagad Road area.

The deceased has been identified as Umesh Prakash Dikshiwant (32), resident of Finolex Colony, Kalewadi, Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Dikshiwant, who originally hailed from Osmanabad district, was transferred from Kolhapur two years ago and joined the Dhayari branch of MSEDCL.

According to Sinhagad Road police, Umesh was working in Dhayari branch of MSEDCL. He had returned to work at 11 pm on Saturday as usual for his night duty. He then went to the godown for some work. At 7 am when another employee went to the godown, he figured that the door was closed. He then peeped through the window and found Umesh dead. The police upon reaching the spot recovered an iron angle on the roof with a nylon rope.

Dikshiwant was married and was living with his wife in Kalewadi area. The couple has one-year-old daughter, whose first birthday they recently celebrated.

Sinhagad Road police are investigating further.
