194 Maratha protesters arrested in 20 cases in Pune

A total 194 persons including five women have been arrested by Pune City Police and detained two juveniles in connection with violence and vandalization that broke out during Maratha reservation protests in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad on Thursday.

Police produced 192 people in the district court in Shivajinagar. There was heavy police bandobast as friends and relatives of accused persons had also gathered in huge number on the court premises. The hearing in the cases went on till late evening.

Out of 192 persons, 21 were granted bail with surety amount of Rs.15,000, 50 people have been sent to police custody for two days, while eight have been sent to police custody for one day and 113 people have been sent to magistrate custody remand (MCR) and lodged in Yerwada Central Jail.

In connection with the agitation at District Collector office, 80 people were arrested by the Bundgarden police station. Of these, two were minor. 78 people were sent to MCR. It includes five women. These five women applied for bail but court rejected their application.

– 30 people arrested by Warje Police were sent to judicial custody.

– 21 people arrested by Deccan police were released on bail of Rs 15 thousand.

– Out of 55 people arrested by Kothrud police, 50 were sent to two-day police custody. They were given judicial custody by the court after they complained that they had been beaten up. He was sent to Sassoon Hospital for medical examination.

– In the process of agitation in Chandni Chowk, eight people were arrested and they were sent for one day police custody.
