Youth of Pune stretches out helping hand to Kerala

People of Kerala are being helped by the youngsters and college students all over the nation specially Pune. Flood in Kerala is considered to be the most severe flood of last century. Full-hand support for Kerala is being carried out across the country. In this way, Savitribai Phule has been promoted by the students of History Department of Pune University for funding.

While helping the flood affected Kerala across the country, students of the history department of the university also decided to raise funds for Kerala through social awareness. After that the collection of funds was started on the war-footing. This work has become more widespread. This Year is the history department of the golden jubilee year. Firstly, it was decided to deposit 50 thousand rupees. However, gradually, other students of the university were added to this campaign.

For the three days in a row, Pune University Gate Signal, Khadki Station, Shivajinagar, Appa Balwant Chowk have all been working to help this. More than 1 million more funds have been deposited. The fund was deposited in the presence of Dr. Chancellor Dr. Nitin Karamlakar and in the presence of NSS Coordinator Dr. Desai. From there the funds reach the disaster victims.

In order to collect this fund, the head of the department Dr. Radhika Sashan, Dr. Dhada Kumbhojkar Pvt. B.H. Dudhbhate, Prof. Junaid Shaikh gave a lot of encouragement, which gave more enthusiasm. Punekar’s charitable attitude was also seen on this occasion. This is the solution that we could do to shorten our brother’s needs in Kerala.

Science and Technology Park, Pune also supported the Kerala Flood Relief Operation by giving their best contribution. Kerala has been suffering the largest flood disaster of the century and eleven out of fourteen districts have been badly affected.

Apart from devastation of housing, food, drinking water and collapse of health, in most of Kerala; electric supply has collapsed. The Park through its Incubation Programme has developed fast charging and long lasting solar LED super capacitor based lamps. As a token of contribution for Kerala flood relief, Park on war footing assembled solar LED lamps and about 700 numbers of lamps with solar panels were airlifted on Sunday, 19th August, 2018 from Pune to Coimbatore.

The lamps were further transported to Palakkad; which is a hub of flood relief operations and from Palakkad lamps were further transported for distribution to regions of Chengannur and Koottanad of Alleppey district which is worst affected.

ECGC Ltd. (Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Limited), Mumbai took very fast decision to financially support this initiative.The lamps were very quickly assembled by Science and Technology Park, Pune with its incubated company GetMy Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Pune. Jet Airways agreed to airlift the lamps from Pune to Coimbatore.
