The arrested accused have been identified as Akshay Holkar (30) and Sameer Shaikh (43). The deceased has been identified as Dattatray Pillane. The Bhor police carried out a detailed investigation and arrested the accused.

According to the police, the Bhor police had found an unidentified body on Bhor-Mahad road. When they were carrying out an investigation, the police came to know that Pillane had given ₹5 to ₹6 lakh to Akshay Holkar.

Since many days had passed, Pillane asked Akshay to return the money. Akshay hatched a conspiracy to kill Pillane. Accordingly, on March 10, Akshay called Pillane. He told Pillane to sit in his car and assaulted him with a sickle and a hammer and killed him. Akshay killed Pillane with the help of his friend Sameer Shaikh. To prevent identification, he burnt clothes worn by Pillane and tried to destroy evidence. They later threw the body in the limits of Varvand village in the Varandha ghat. Later, a complaint about Pillane’s disappearance was lodged with the police. The police were searching for him and Pillane’s body was found on March 17. Since the body was in a decomposed condition, the identity could not be ascertained.

The police collected information about people missing in Pune and Satara districts. They came to know that a complaint had been lodged about the disappearance of Pillane. The police questioned his father who told them that Pillane’s friend Akshay had called him for a meeting. Since the police had a doubt, they kept a watch on Akshay and his friend. Later, they detained them and grilled them. They admitted killing Pillane.

The Bhor police carried out the investigation swiftly and arrested the accused. The police are being praised for their investigation of the case.
