Woman commits suicide after being defamed by husband on Facebook

In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly killed herself after being defamed on Facebook by her husband who had created a fake account. He had posted obscene comments and later alleged that his wife chatted with other men.

The incident took place in Dnyaneshwarnagar at Pathardi Fata in Nashik. Now based on the complaint from her brother, police have booked her husband and mother-in-law. Her husband has been arrested.

The deceased has been identified as Manisha Kawde. She had suddenly started getting calls from unknown persons a few days back. Following this, her husband Prashant and mother-in-law started suspecting her character and harassed her physically and mentally.

According to police, they had also withdrawn Rs 28,000 from her accounts and demanded Rs 10 lakhs for buying a row house. Her husband created a fake Facebook account and started messaging her from that account and alleged that she chatted with other men. Fed up with the harassment, she allegedly hanged herself in her house.

The case has been registered with Indiranagar police station.
