Wanwadi police arrest absconding accused in robbery case

PUNE: Wanwadi police arrested a fugitive from the Belgaum district of Karnataka who was wanted in a robbery case since the last 10 years, the police said.

The arrested has been identified as Anand Rajagopal Chindak (33), resident of Karnataka. A case was registered in this regard at Wanwadi police station in 2011.

According to the police, Anand along with his accomplices, Sachin Mane and Dinar Samant, had come to stay at Chindak’s uncle’s house in Wanwadi. At that time, in 2011, the three accused robbed and stole jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh from his uncle’s house. The police had arrested Sachin Mane and Dinar Samant but Anand was absconding for the last 10 years.

Meanwhile, Assistant Sub-Inspector Pradip Gurav had received information that Anand was in Belgaum district of Karnataka. Accordingly, under the guidance of Senior Inspector Deepak Lagad, a team of Pradip Gurav, Vinod Bhandalkar, Dnyandev Giramkar and Shirish Gosavi set a trap and arrested him in Karnataka.
