Vijay Mallya Knocks the Door of British SC to Block Extradition, Sought Permission to File Plea

London : The country’s fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya has today sought permission to file a petition in the British Supreme Court against the extradition order to India. Last month, the petition against the extradition of Vijay Mallya was rejected by the High Court of London. Mallya has a case related to fraud and money laundering in India.

64-year-old Vijay Mallya had 14 days to seek the permission of the petition in the British Supreme Court after an order from the c. The High Court gave its verdict on April 20 last month. Mallya had challenged the extradition order of the Lower Court Westminster Magistrate Court in the High Court.

A spokesman for the UK Crown Prosecution Service, representing the Indian investigative agencies in the extradition case, also confirmed receiving the petition on behalf of Vijay Mallya, stating that ‘the petition has been filed. We have time till 14 May for an answer.’

Earlier, with the decision of the London High Court, the way to send Vijay Mallya to India was cleared last month. However, after the High Court’s decision, Mallya had said, “I am naturally disappointed with this decision. I will continue the legal process further on the advice of my lawyer.”
