VIDEO: SpaceX rocket explodes after seemingly successful landing

WASHINGTON: An unmanned largest rocket of Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) exploded on the ground on Wednesday after carrying out what had seemed to be a successful flight and landing.

On Wednesday, the Mars bound starship SN10 spacecraft was launched at 5:15 pm from SpaceX’s Boca Chica company in Texas, USA. A video of this has also been released by SpaceX on its website. The rocket flew to a height of 10 km before touching the land pad.

A SpaceX commentator said, “A beautiful soft landing” on the live broadcast of the test flight, although flames were coming out at the bottom and crews were trying to put them out. The rocket exploded a few minutes later. It was thrown into the air and crashed back to the ground.

However, the company is still working on the starship for its first Orbit flight, which could be completed by the end of this year. Earlier on Tuesday, a Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa released a video. In which Musk says, “I am confident that we will reach orbit many times before 2023, and then it will be safe to deliver humans there by 2023.”

Earlier, the starship S8 fell victim to a blast in December last year. There was no news of any casualty in this incident. Musk said in October that he believed 80 to 100 per cent that the starship would be ready to fly to orbit by the end of this year.

SpaceX, based in California, plans to launch several starship prototypes from its Texas launch site. This launch site is a nearly deserted area leased by SpaceX in South Texas near the border with Mexico and next to the Gulf of Mexico, the area is vast and empty enough that an accident or explosion would not cause damage or fatalities.
