US Orders China to Close Its Consulate in Houston, Gives Ultimatum of 72-Hours

Beijing: The ultimatum to close the Chinese Consulate in Houston, US, has been given to China by the local administration. According to the Chinese government newspaper Global Times, the US has asked the embassy to cover the work within 72 hours.

Information has been given by tweeting on behalf of newspaper editor Hu Shijin. The US has already closed this embassy. There has been an incident of burning of some papers at the Chinese Consulate in Houston. Hu’s tweet came just hours after the incident. After the paper burning incident, a team of Huston police and firefighters arrived at the embassy. These papers were lit in open containers outside the embassy.

This information has been given by police from Houston and two local TV channels. Hu did not say in his tweet where he had received the news that the embassy had been ordered to be closed. Many of Hu’s tweets are followed by a large number of investors.

In the videos posted by Houston’s local media, it is seen that black smoke is coming out from inside the containers. Firefighters were not allowed inside the embassy building. The fire was extinguished a few minutes later. No one has been injured in this incident. The Embassy will be evacuated by 4 pm Friday at the local time if both the Houston Chronicle and both channels are to be believed. This news has been given by quoting a local source.
