Two youths cheated by promising jobs in Serum Institute

Pune : NpNews24 Online Two youths were cheated of over Rs 1 lakh by promising to give jobs in Serum Institute of India (SII). A couple has been booked by the Hadapsar police in this regard.
The accused have been identified as Rajan Gaware and his wife Savita Gaware. A 26-year-old youth from Kalepadal lodged a complaint with the Hadapsar police. The incident took place from December 2020 to August 2021.
According to the police, the complainant used to work in SII earlier. He came to know Rajan Gaware through a friend working in SII. The company had attracted attention of the entire world during the pandemic as it manufactures the Covishield vaccine. Gaware promised the complainant, who has done the mechanical engineering diploma, that he would be taken on the contract basis first and later as a regular employee. He demanded money from the youth for this. He took money from the complainant and his friend from time to time. Gaware took around Rs 1.70 lakh. He used to tell them that he was a leader of the workers’ union. Many days passed, but he did not keep his promise. Hence, the victim demanded refund of their money. Initially, he gave Rs 35,000 to the complainant and Rs 32,000 to his friend. However, he did not refund the remaining amounts. He stopped picking their calls. They realized that they were cheated. Hence, they approached the police.
