Two Sri Lankan women caught with gold at Pune airport

NPNEWS24 Online: Pune – Two Sri Lankan women caught with gold worth Rs 30.31 lakhs Officials from the Customs department at the Pune International airport intercepted two women passengers holding Sri Lankan passports. The two passengers arrived from Singapore by Jet Airways and walked through the Green channel without declaring anything to the customs.

The passengers were carrying 24 carat gold in the form of chain, bangles and biscuits, totatlly weighing 914.25 gms. The gold is estimated to be worth Rs 30.31 laks.

The gold has been seized under the reasonable belief that it is being smuggled into India and further investigations are in progress, Customs department officials said.
