Transport of illegal liquor under guise of transporting medicines: Saswad division of State Excise Department seizes goods worth ₹57 lakh

PUNE :  NpNews24 Online  –  Pune Crime News | The Saswad division of Maharashtra State Excise department has busted a racket of transport of illegal liquor under the guise of medicines. Officials of the excise department have seized goods worth ₹46.67 lakh from a six-wheel truck from the Pune-Mangaon highway opposite Hotel Lal Mirch located in the limits of Mouje Male village in Mulshi taluka. The officials have seized goods totally worth ₹57.25 lakh and arrested two accused. (Pune Crime News)

The arrested accused have been identified as Danaram Chunaram Nehra and Rukhmnaram Khetaram Godra. SP Charan Singh Rajput of Excise Department got a tip and a team led by Inspector PC Shelar conducted the raid on Monday.

The team questioned the driver of a six-wheeler truck which had stopped on the Pune-Mangaon highway in the limits of Mouje Male village opposite Hotel Lal Mirch. He told them that there were medicines and injections in the truck. Since the team had a doubt, it started searching and found 8,640 bottles of 180 ml Imperial Blue Whiskey (180 boxes), 2,640 bottles of 180 ml Mcdowell No 1 whiskey, 5,520 bottles of 180 ml Royal Stag Whiskey, 864 bottles of 180 ml Royal Challenge Whiskey, 3,060 bottles of 750 ml Edrial Whiskey (255 boxes). The Saswad division of the State Excise Department seized the goods and the truck totally worth ₹57.25 lakh.

The action was taken under the orders of Commissioner of State Excise Department Dr Vijay Suryawanshi and Director Sunil Chavan and under instructions of Divisional Deputy Commissioner Mohan Varde, SP Charansingh B Rajput, DySP Sanjay R Patil, Yuvraj Shinde, SB Jagdale by Inspector PC Shelar of Saswad division, Secondary Inspector Deepak Supe, jawan Tatya Shinde, Ranjit Chavan, Sunil Kudle, Dattatray Pilavare, Bhagvat Rathod and Bhagwan Ransure. Inspector PC Shelar is probing the case.
