Traffic stalled at Mumbai-Goa highway due to tree collapse

NPnews24 Online Mumbai: Traffic has been stalled due to the collapse of a large tree on the Mumbai-Goa highway near Poladpur. The traffic from Konkan has been diverted via Vinhere Tulshikhind road. The collapse of the tree has completely damaged a cars and a two-wheeler.

The couple in the car were saved as they were out of the car to mend the punctured tire. The officials of the highway department as well as the contractor company have reached the scene and work to remove the tree from the highway is underway.

Meanwhile, it has started raining in Mahad, Poladpur and Mangaon taluka. The Savitri and Gandhari rivers have crossed the danger level. Mahad was flooded with rain water on Monday night. The bridge over the Gandhari river is underwater.

Other areas of the district have received heavy warning of rains and the district administration has issued a warning. The NDRF squads, including the army, have been kept ready to deal with the potential disaster in the area.
