TikTok’s First Statement Over Removal From Google Play Store, Know What It Said

New Delhi : A total of 59 Chinese mobile apps have been banned by the Modi government, including China’s TikTok. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (IT Ministry) on Monday released a list of 59 Chinese apps which are now banned in India. In such a situation, TikTok has also been removed from the Google Play Store. Meanwhile, TikTok has also released an official statement.

TikTok said in a statement that they are in the process of complying with the government’s order to shut down the app. However, at the same time TikTok also said that it has not shared the information of any Indian using the app with any foreign government, including China. TikTok said he was called to meet with the relevant government parties and to clarify.

The IT ministry said in an official statement released on Monday that it had received several complaints from various sources, including several reports about the misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms. These reports state that these apps steal users’ data, send them unauthorizedly to servers located outside India.

The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center under the Ministry of Home Affairs had also recommended a comprehensive ban on these malicious apps. “Based on these and recently on receiving reliable information that such apps are a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the government of India has decided to discontinue the use of certain apps used in mobile and non-mobile Internet enabled devices.”
