‘They are Treating Me Like a Terrorist’, Azam Khan Accuses Police

New Delhi : npnews24 : Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and MP Azam Khan was taken from Sitapur Jail to Rampur for court appearance. Meanwhile, Azam Khan accused the police of treating him like a terrorist. Azam Khan said that “they (police) are treating me like a terrorist.” On 26 February Azam Khan surrendered in the case of forgery, after which he was transferred to Sitapur Jail on Thursday morning.

Azam Khan along with his wife Tanzin Fatima and son Abdullah Azam were also sent to Sitapur Jail. The Khan family was brought to Sitapur Road from Rampur jail on Thursday early morning at 4.30 am under tight security and taken to jail from here. According to official sources, it was decided to transfer Azam Khan and his family in view of reports of plans being made by the supporters of politicians in Rampur for demonstrations.

How the night was spent in jail?
It has become difficult for Azam Khan and his family to spend the night in Sitapur Jail. On Friday, Azam Khan’s elder son Adeeb and daughter-in-law Sidra spoke to the media after meeting them in Sitapur Jail. Sidra said that there are a lot of mosquitoes in the jail and it has become difficult for his family to spend the night there. “My mother-in-law underwent an operation last year. She is also a patient of diabetes, blood pressure. She is suffering a lot. I want both of them to be taken care of,” said Sidra.

What is the matter?
BJP leader Akash Saxena filed the case last year. It was alleged that Azam Khan and mother doctor Tanzin Fatima had made false affidavits to get Abdullah’s birth certificate. One birth certificate of Abdullah has been issued from Rampur and the other from Lucknow. The court had earlier also issued attachment notices against Azam Khan in this case. But they did not appear in the court.
