Nagpur : NpNews24 Online  –   School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar has said that no decision has been taken at the government level to close schools with 20 or less number of students. He also said that soon the process of recruitment of teaching and non-teaching posts will be started after the approval from the finance department. MLA Amit Deshmukh had moved a calling attention motion in this regard. Deepak Kesarkar was replying to this.

Kesarkar said that the government is trying to ensure that there should be a school for students within one-kilometre periphery, they should get quality education, and the necessary facilities should be definitely provided under the Right to Education Act. Also, there is no plan to close any school with 20 or less pass marks, said Kesarkar.

Due to Bham dam near Kaluste village in Igatpuri taluka, Darewadi village is displaced by 2.5 km from the dam. This place has a well-equipped school building, protective wall, drinking water system and other physical facilities and three teachers are available as per criteria. Approximately 35 Darewadi families were sheltered in a temporary Darewadi shelter shed near Bham Dam. The taluka administration has temporarily facilitated the education of the students in a shelter shed near the settlement so that the students do not suffer any educational loss until the construction of the houses of 35 families near the Bham Dam is completed. A total of 43 students are studying in it. The temporary arrangement made for the education of the students will be maintained. Kesarkar also said that they will be taken into confidence after discussing with the local villagers.

As per the provisions of Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, a total of four primary schools of Zilla Parishad are available in the area within one km from the school which is running on a temporary basis, said Kesarkar.
