Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit has gone into isolation for a week after three more staff at the Chennai Raj Bhavan tested positive for the coronavirus.
A statement issued on Wednesday stated, “38 persons of Raj Bhavan, Chennai were tested for Covid-19, out of which 35 persons were found to be negative and only three persons tested positive.” The staff members who tested positive have been shifted to a hospital by the state health department and are undergoing treatment.

Last week, 84 employees of the Raj Bhavan had tested positive. The total coronavirus cases reported from Chennai Raj Bhavan grounds has now gone up to 87.
The current round of testing was a follow-up precautionary measure after 84 people had tested positive last week. On Tuesday, the Raj Bhavan medical officer carried out regular health check-up of the governor and found him healthy, said an official statement.
“However, the doctor has advised him to be in isolation for seven days. Subsequently, the governor has kept himself in isolation,” added the statement.
