#Swiperight: What ‘Tinder’ thinks about Indian users?

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- There’s no denying the impact that Tinder has had on not only the dating world, but the dating app trend. It’s become a permanent fixture in people’s dating lives.

A blog called Swipe Life, which is published by the folks behind the dating app, has compiled a few lists of the most popular items included in 2018’s Tinder bios, along with everyone’s favourite time to swipe.

According to Tinder, when the five-judge bench of the apex court scrapped section 377 of the Indian penal code, which prescribed a prison sentence as long as 10 years for homosexuality, on the other  that day was one of the busiest day on Tinder also considered to be first ever “ Year in Swipe.”

Against the general perception that weekends are the best to go out on a date, tinder user prefer going on date on Tuesdays. Strange!

According to the Tinder data, India tend to stalk in the night. The standard time, tinder swipers prefer using the app around 9. Weird right?

According to the report, in the world off GIF’s, the most popular GIF is the waving fox. Not only India but also countries like France, Brazil, Spain, Germany, Russia, Japan, and South Korea. In the US, UK, and Australia frequently use it.

The second most popular used GIF is “How you doin’?”, the (in)famous pick-up line of the character Joey Tribbiani from the sitcom Friends.

According to the survey, in the hierarchy of desired qualities, Indian women look for a sense of humour (24.5%), followed by shared values and interests (24%), intelligence (22.9%) and lastly good looks (20.9%). For men, good looks (30.6%) rank above sense of humour (25.2%) or shared values and interests (24.1%).

Clearly, being an intelligent or a well-read woman isn’t a very desirable quality, according to most Indian men on Tinder.

However, most Indian men (30.2%) and women (30.8%) seem to agree on doing something casual and low-key for the first date. While both men (30.2%) and women (30.8%) are also keen to learn something new together, most women still prefer to wine and dine (32.6%) on their first date, more than anything else.
