Swargate police arrests burglar wanted in four cases, recover booty worth Rs 2.80 lakh

Pune: Swargate police have nabbed a burglar who stole jewellery from a crowded place in the city, police said on Tuesday.

The police have recovered booty worth Rs 2.80 lakh from the accused in four crimes.

The accused has been identified as Sarfaraz Iqbal Momin (22), a resident of Sayyed Nagar, street no. 12 in Hadapsar.

To curb the rising number of burglary incidents in the city, senior officials have stepped up patrols and issued instructions to arrest criminals in Sarai.

Meanwhile, police constables Sachin Kadam and Jnana Bade of Swargate police station while patrolling received a tip-off that Sarfaraz, a criminal from Sarai, was staying at Natraj Hotel.

Accordingly, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sagar Patil and Senior Inspector Balasaheb Kopnar, a team of Assistant Inspector Amol Rasal, Sub-Inspector Suresh Jayabhay, Manoj Bhokare, Sachin Dalvi, Somnath Kamble, Sandeep Salve, Lakhan Dhaware, Vaibhav Shitkal, Shankar Gaikwad and Rishikesh Titme set a trap and arrested him.
