SSR drug case: NCB files charge sheet in NDPS court, names include Rhea Chakraborty

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Zonal Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday filed its charge sheet in the alleged drug probe related to the case of death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

A total of 33 people have been named in the charge sheet. “Chargesheet names 33 accused and statements of 200 witnesses. More than 12,000 pages in hard copy and about 50,000 pages in the digital format submitted in court today,” the NCB said.

Actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was the late actor’s girlfriend and her brother Showik Chakraborty have also been named in the charge sheet.

Anuj Keshwani, who is accused of keeping a big quantity of drugs such as LSD and marijuana, has also been named in the charge sheet. Two college students, who are allegedly last-mile peddlars, along with two foreign nationals including Agisilaos Demetriades, brother of Arjun Rampal’s partner, have been included in the charge sheet as well.

In September 2020, Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the NCB in connection to the drugs case and was let out on bail a month later.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment in June last year, and the probe into his untimely demise led to a drugs case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had reportedly shared several chats from Rhea and Showik’s phone with the NCB, which involved mention of drugs. This led to the involvement of the NCB and a drugs angle was being probed.
