Soldier couldn’t convince king to stay: Kolhe after meeting Bhosale

Np News 24 Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Shirur MP Dr Amol Kolhe met Satara MP Udayanraje Bhosale on Monday amidst rumours of the latter joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Kolhe said, “A soldier has failed to convince his king,” when asked about his meeting with Bhosale. He said that he asked the Satara MP not to quit the party.   Bhosale is a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

He has been warming up to the BJP of late, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also  saying that the BJP would be happy if the Bhosale joined. Bhosale had recently praised Fadnavis and said that his government had done more to develop his constituency Satara than the Congress-NCP combine which was creating obstacles during its 15-year tenure between 1999-2004.

When asked by reporters about the switch, Bhosale said, “If I were to join the BJP, I will discuss it with my workers and then decide.”
