Six booked, one held for illegal money lending, illegal assets worth Rs 1 crore seized

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | Six people have been booked and one arrested for illegal money lending and forcefully registering 18-guntha land in an accused’s name as the complainant failed to pay interest on Rs 7- lakh loan.

 

The accused kidnapped the complainant and threatened to kill his family members and registered 18-guntha land belonging to him in their name. An offence has been registered against six people at the Loni Kalbhor police station and a person has been arrested.

 

Swapnil Kanchan, Rajaram Kanchan, both residents of Uruli Kanchan, and Prashant Gote, a resident of Bhivari, taluka Haveli and three others have been booked under the Maharashtra Lenders Act and sections of IPC. Swapnil Kanchan has been arrested and valuables worth Rs 1 crore have been seized from his residence.

 

Vikas Ramdas Katke (30), a resident of Ashtapur Malwadi, taluka Haveli, lodged a complaint in this regard. According to the police, the complainant had taken a Rs 7 lakh loan from Swapnil Kanchan. He repaid Rs 4.60 lakh. The accused kidnapped the complainant in his car and took him to the Sub-Registrar’s office. He threatened to kill the complainant and his family members. Then he was forced to transfer ownership of his 18-guntha land in Prashant Gote’s name. Even after registering the 18-guntha land, the accused still demanded money on account of interest on the loan amount and demanded the ancestral land from the complainant.

 

Three police teams searched the residence of the accused and seized unaccounted assets, including over Rs 57.38 lakh cash, over Rs 48.62 lakh worth jewellery, totally worth Rs 1.06 crore.

 

Swapnil Kanchan was arrested and produced before the court. The court remanded him in police custody till February 1. The police have appealed to people to contact the Loni Kalbhor police, if anyone has been cheated similarly by the accused.
