Sivamani to perform live in Pune

Percussion Maestro Sivamani, who plays many instruments including Drums, Octoban, Darbuka, Udukai, Ghatam and Kanjira is going to perform live in Pune. He will be Performing in a “Dhol-Tasha” competition organised by Aakhil Mhasoba Utsav Mandali Trust.

Sivamani will be performing for the 1st time in Pune. Sivamani has a band called “Asia Electrik” with Niladri Kumar, Louiz Banks and Ravi Chari. He also plays at another world music band named “Silk & Shrada.” He has played drums for many Indian films including Roja, Rang De Basanti, Swades, Taal, Lagaan, Dil Se.., Guru, Kabul Express and Rockstar.

In this Dhol-Tasha Competition 37 groups are shortlisted from more than 475 groups, from all over. In these 37 groups 13 are from Pune, 11 are from Mumbai and 13 are from rest of the Maharashtra. The competition is going to take place on August 9 to August 11.

Musician Narendra Bhide, Guardian Minister Girish Bapat, Pune’s Mayor Mukta Tilak and Jagdish Balaji Rao are some of the prominent personality who are going to be present for the event. The prize distribution will take place on August 11 by hand of Balaji Rao, director of Venky’s Ltd.

The winner of the competition will be awarded with 5 lakhs Rupees cash prize, the runner up will get 3 lakhs Rupees cash prize. Third, Fourth and Fifth place prizes are 2 lakhs, 1 lakh and 51 thousand rupees, respectively.

Every participant from Pune, Mumbai and from rest of the Maharashtra will get 10 thousand, 15 thousand and 25 thousand rupees cash price, respectively. Other than that, Best Dhol player, Best Tasha player and best rhythm will get 15 thousand rupees cash prize each.  More than 3,000 audience are expected for this competition and the arrangement for the same is done by the Mandali Trust.
