Sinhagad police arrests one for demanding ransom money from builder, four booked

Pune : Sinhagad police have arrested a man and booked four for allegedly demanding Rs 10,000 from a builder by threatening him with weapons. The incident took place on February 15 in Narhe area.

The accused has been identified as Faizal Qazi (21).  Vikram Manere (44) lodged a complaint at Sinhagad police station in this regard.

According to the police, the accused threatened the plaintiff with knives, axes and hockey stick and demanded a ransom of Rs 15,000. The accused then took Rs 10,000 while abusing the plaintiff. The accused then intimidated shopkeepers and other people by showing off weapons, the complaint said.

When the Qazi was produced before the court in this case, the public prosecutors demanded that he be remanded in police custody to investigate whether he had collected ransom from anyone else in this manner, or whether he had any other accomplices. Likewise, the court has remanded him in police custody till March 22.
