SGP team reaches Kolkata before PM Modi’s rally

KOLKATA: The West Bengal unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is preparing for the election rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Brigade Parade Ground.  Before the PM’s rally, the Kolkata police and the central security agencies have arranged strict measures for his safety and security.

All the securities will be in the hands of the Kolkata police and Special Protection Group (SPG). As one team of SPG has already reached Kolkata before the Prime Minister’s arrival.

The security agencies have placed four-level barricades in front of the podium, where PM Modi will be addressing the expected gathering of around seven lakh BJP supporters.

In the arrangements of the rally, there will be two more stages with the main stage from which one will be for BJP ministers and the other one will be for media.

Over 15 CCTVs will be installed near the main venue to keep a strict vigil on crowd.

According to the sources, a central monitoring control room will be set up behind the main stage, and to control the crowd whole ground will be barricaded by wooden logs.

Crowded areas in the city like Hastings, Cathedral Road, Khidirpur, AJC Bose Road, and Hostel Road will be banned for vehicular movement. The Kolkata police also stated that before 8 pm on March 7, no external goods will be allowed in the city.
