Setback to Kangana Ranaut in passport renewal matter, No relief from Bombay HC

Mumbai : Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has not got relief from the Bombay High Court in the matter related to the renewal of her passport. Kangana has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court demanding that the court direct the Passport Office to renew her passport. On Tuesday, the court, while hearing Kangana’s plea, refused to direct the Passport Office in this regard. The court has fixed June 25 for the next hearing in the matter. Kangana’s passport will expire in September but the department is not renewing the passport citing cases against her.

Last year, the Magistrate Court ordered a case against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. An FIR has been registered against Kangana under sedition sections at Bandra Police Station for her alleged hate tweets and statements. Regarding this, the passport authority is objecting to the renewal of her passport.

Kangana has appealed to the Bombay High Court to renew her passport. Kangana has said that her passport will expire in September 2021. She is an actress and hence she has to travel to many locations in the country and abroad for shooting. Kangana said that she is the lead actress in a film and she has to travel to Budapest from June 15 to August. She had applied to the Passport Authority to issue it again, but the authority has refused to do so. Hence, she has requested the court to order the Passport Department to renew her passport. Now the matter is to be heard on June 25.
