Sangli Crime | Sangli: Divisional Education Commissioner suspends two officials for accepting bribe

Sangli : NpNews24 Online – Sangli Crime | A few days ago, Education Officer Vishnu Marutirao Kamble and Superintendent Vijaykumar Ashok Sonwane of secondary education department of Sangli Zilla Parishad, had been caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand from three teachers. Both of them have now been suspended after the inquiry report. Divisional Education Commissioner Suraj Mandre has suspended both the officials.
The officials had sought Rs 60,000 from three teachers to make them eligible for the graduate salary scale. A team of the department probed the matter till May 2 and they found that the officials had demanded a bribe. Education Officer Kamble and Superintendent Sonwane had been arrested red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand by the Sangli ACB. An FIR has been registered against both of them at the Vishrambaug police station under the Anti-Corruption Act.
Meanwhile, an ACB team raided their residence. Cash of Rs 10 lakh and some important documents had been seized from Kamble’s house and cash of Rs 3 lakh was seized from Sonwane’s house. Both officials have now been suspended. Divisional Education Commissioner Suraj Mandre has suspended both the officials.
