Sameer Wankhede | Sameer Wankhede gets reprieve from Bombay HC; Gets interim protection from arrest till June 8

MUMBAI: Sameer Wankhede | The CBI has registered an FIR against former director of NCB Sameer Wankhede for corruption. Wankhee appealed in the Bombay High Court and the court had instructed that he should not be arrested till May 22. Since the period was ending today, everyone was waiting to see what decision would be taken by the court.

 

A hearing took place today in the Bombay High Court. The HC provided a major relief to Wankhede by granting him interim protection from arrest till June 8. However, the HC has imposed some restrictions on Wankhede.

 

Wankhede should not tamper with any evidence connected with the case and he has been barred from speaking to the media. He has been told not to interfere in the CBI probe and present himself for questioning by CBI officers whenever they call him, state the written orders issued by the HC.

 

The NCB had raided Cordelia Cruise going from Mumbai to Goa at the international cruise terminal on October 2, 2021. It has seized 5 gm Mephedrone, 13 gm cocaine, 21 gm charas, 22 tablets of MDM and cash of ₹1.33 lakh.

The NCB had detained Aryan Khan and seven others for questioning. Later, the NCB had registered an FIR against Aryan Khan and others under the narcotics Act and arrested them.
An allegation has been levelled against Wankhede and NCB officer and independent witness in the case KP Gosavi that they had sought ₹25 crore from Aryan Khan’s family. The FIR contains names of all of them. Later, the NCB set up a SIT. During the probe conducted by SIT, a report was prepared about ill gotten wealth of Wankhde and the report had been submitted to senior NCB officers. Later, the CBI started taking action.
