‘Sacrifice Your Sons, Not Goats’ – BJP MLA’s Disputed Statement on Bakrid

New Delhi : Nandkishore Gurjar, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Loni in Ghaziabad, has given a disputed statement about sacrificing on Bakrid. MLA Nandkishore Gurjar has said that do not give sacrifices in view of Corona, and if you want to give sacrifice, sacrifice your children, not goats. He warned to take action against the sacrifice.

BJP MLA Nandkishore Gurjar said that if someone says that I have to sacrifice, then sacrifice your child. It is wrong to kill innocent creatures  for sacrifice and eat them… In the next birth, they also will have to be goats and they will be eaten by people.

Significantly, the pace of corona epidemic in the country is increasing steadily. In such a situation, the government is continuously appealing people to postpone religious and social programs. There has been an appeal to celebrate Bakrid and other festivals at home, but some people are adamant on collective namaz and sacrifice.

Samajwadi Party (SP) MP from Sambhal, Shafiqur Rahman Burke said that no one can ban their prayers. This is a big festival for Muslims. On this day, Muslims go to the markets and buy animals, but now the markets of animals are not open. How can a festival happen in such a situation? It is not okay to ban.

Threatening SP MP Shafiqur Rahman Burke, BJP MLA Sangeet Som had said that if SP MPs do not agree, the way Azam Khan celebrates Eid in jail, their Bakrid will also be in jail. Sangeet Som said that the goat should be cut on Bakrid, festivals can be celebrated by eating greens and potatoes.
