The firm supplies gas to pump operators in the rural areas of Pune. The company is reluctant to pay the increased commission sanctioned by the government. A letter in this regard has been sent to the District Collector. (Pune CNG Pump)

The Central government has announced increased commission for CNG distributors. Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) in Pune city has given increased commission to distributors. However, Torrent Gas Company, which is a supplier for rural areas, is reluctant to pay the increased commission. The gas sellers had called a strike earlier too in this regard. At that time, the district collector held a meeting of the vendors and company management. The company sought time to pay the commission. Later, it was extended for the second time. However, the commission has not been disbursed by the company. Moreover, there is no explanation from the company as to when it will be delivered. So the vendors decided to go on strike. The details about this were provided by Dhruv Ruparel, president, the Petrol Pump Owners’ Association.

The central government released fair trade margin (commission) (DFTM) to CNG dealers in 2021. However, Torrent Gas did not pay the commission despite repeated requests. As a result, it is claimed that the CNG distributors in the district have suffered a loss of nearly Rs 8 crore. Importantly, there is no order from the Centre about commission not to be paid. Commissions on sales alone are not affordable at present. Therefore, CNG pump operators in Pune district have stopped the purchase and sale of torrent CNG from January 27 for an indefinite period.
