Rupali Chakankar | Rupali Chakankar wants to contest from the Khadakwasla seat
Mumbai : Rupali Chakankar | The Lok Sabha elections will take place within a year. The State Assembly Polls will happen soon after. All parties in the State have started preparing for these elections. The Maha Vikas Aghadi and the Ruling Alliance are discussing seat-sharing arrangements. Aspirants are getting ready in their respective assembly segments.
NCP leader and State Commission for Women Chairperson Rupali Chakankar has announced that she wants to contest the 2024 state polls. She wants to contest from the Khadakwasla assembly seat in Pune.
Chakankar said, “I had filed my nomination papers from the Khadakwasla assembly constituency last time. On the day, I was to be interviewed, I was appointed as the president of the State Women’s Wing of the party.”
She said, “The party had instructed me to contest. However, I accepted the party’s women’s wing post in adverse conditions. I had this big responsibility of strengthening the women’s wing by travelling across the state. This put limitations on staying put in the constituency and run the poll machinery. Hence, I declined the offer.”
‘I will demand party ticket’
“I am a worker of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Therefore, I will request party president Sharad Pawar and senior leader Ajit Pawar to give me the party ticket. I am trying for the Khadakwasla assembly segment. I had declined the ticket in 2019. However, I will demand it in the next elections,” said Rupali Chakankar.
