Rs 28 lakhs cash stolen from State Bank of India branch

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE: PUNE:   In a shocking incident, two men who had gone to the State Bank of India’s Seven Loves Chowk for depositing money, allegedly decamped with a bag containing Rs 28 lakhs cash. Police said that the accused were accompanied by their accomplices.

The incident took place around 11 am on Friday. The whole incident has been captured by CCTV footage of the bank. The bag was later found by police in Tilak Road area but it was empty.

According to police, the bag contained all the cash deposited in the bank on Thursday. The cashier had kept the bag on table, two men who were in the queue lifted the bag and walked out. The footage shows that few more persons followed them out of the bank and they went towards Swargate.

After the bank staff realised the theft, police were informed. Soon officials from Crime Branch and Swargate police station reached the bank and scanned the footages. The empty bag was found on Tilak Road. The cops are searching for the accused persons and the cash.
