Ramdas Athawale advises Congress to not go solo in upcoming Maharashtra elections

Mumbai : With Maharashtra State Congress President Nana Patol indicating that the party will fight the next assembly elections alone, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that Congress is weaker than NCP and Shiv Sena, so it should avoid contesting elections alone. Not only this, Athawale said that the Maha Aghadi government was formed with the help of 42 Congress MLAs. Nana Patol should talk directly to Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar for 2.5 years chief minister’s post. If this does not happen then the Congress should distance itself from the alliance.

Athawale said that Congress has less strength in Maharashtra as compared to Shiv Sena and NCP, so contesting elections alone will not be beneficial for them. Athawale’s statement comes at a time when there is dissatisfaction in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, especially the way the Congress has spoken of contesting the next election alone.

The Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that Shiv Sena should run the government in the state with the support of BJP, where the Chief Minister of both parties can rule for 2.5 years, this is the best option for them. Uddhav Thackeray has recently met PM Modi. If the Congress parted ways with the alliance, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government would be reduced to a minority, so the BJP would be the only option.
