Raj Thackeray meets Jayant Patil over EVM protest

NPnews24 Online Mumbai: MNS chief Raj Thackeray met NCP State President Jayant Patil at his house on Monday. The MNS leader has been meeting the Opposition leader across the country as MNS is launching a protest campaign against EVMs on August 1.

According to reports, Thackeray will also meet Congress State President Balasaheb Thorat regarding the same.

He is also expected to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to garner support for the campaign. MNS has already begun preparation for the protest against EVMs on August 1.

Raj Thackeray is protesting for the demand of removing EVMs for voting during elections and going back to ballot paper as allegations of EVM hacking have been doing rounds since the BJP came into power again.

A few days ago, Thackeray had gone to New Delhi and met the Chief Electoral Officer.

He had demanded to bring ballot paper back for voting instead of EVMs that could be hacked easily.

Against this backdrop, the preparation for the agitation was started by Raj Thackeray as Assembly polls are going to be held in Maharashtra in a few months.

He said that the MNS will boycott the forthcoming elections if it was not held on the ballot paper. He is also urging the other Opposition leaders to do the same.
