R K Padmanabhan – First police commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad

Additional DGP (Traffic) R K Padmanabhan will be the first police commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate. The government issued his appointment order on Monday.
Last ween Thane additional commissioner of police Makrand Ranade was transferred here as Add CP. Also DCP Vinayak Dhakne from Aurangabad city police and Namrata Patil from police headquarters, will join here as DCPs.

In April this year, the state cabinet had approaved setting up of the Pimpri Chinchwad police Commissionerate at an expenditure of Rs 323 crore. The commissionerate will cover a population of 22-23 lakh, including 4-5 lakh from the rural areas around the twin industrial township.
The Pune-Mumbai expressway, Pune-Mumbai highway, Pune-Nashik highway and Katraj-Dehu Road bypass will fall under the jurisdiction of the new police commissionerate which will cover 625 sq km area and there will be 4840 police personnel.
