Punekar spike in Power bills

NPnews24 Online Pune: The power bills served up by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) this past month are pinching of upscale koregaon Park, Shivajinagar, and its neighboring localities.

They complain that the bills have doubled, and in some cases even tripled, in the past two months, and this has nothing to do with the summers and the running of air-conditioners as even unoccupied houses have registered a spike.

And Power utilities are not only oblivious to the rising complaint but also in denial that such thing could happen.

Sudesh Parate, a student living as a bachelor with his friend at model colony, shivajinagar normally pays a monthly electricity charge of Rs. 600 to Rs 650. “In June this went up by Rs 1100, such a doubling is simply not plausible, “he insisted.

Another resident name Vanita Naraindas, an event planner, lives at Atul Park, a society adjacent to Koregaon Park, with her two daughters. “My daughters were away most of the April and May.Our expected bill range Rs 2,000 and Rs 2,500 and we expected this to drop while they were not around and me hardly home. And in shocking we got a bill of Rs 12,000, when most of the appliances were inactive.

Officials at MSEDCL vehemently deny such goof-up and said people should register their complaints so they can be looked into and analyzed.
