Pune: Youth vandalize liquor shop in Hadapsar for denying beer on credit

Pune: An 18-year-old youth vandalized a liquor store after the shopkeeper denied him beer on credit at Kalepadal in Hadapsar. He also damaged a medical shop and stole money out of rage. Wanawadi police have arrested one person in this regard and a case has been registered against four suspects.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Pratik alias Nanya Navnath Shende (18). A case has been registered against him and four others at Wanawadi police station. Police have also caught three minors in connection with this case. Medical store operator Suraj Sutar (22), a resident of Kalepadal has lodged a complaint in this regard.

According to the police, Sutar works in Shree Medical store at Kalepadal. Pratik had come at the beer shop which is next to the drug store at 6 pm on Sunday evening to buy liquor. Pratik wanted to buy liquor on credit, but the beer shop owner refused. Pratik then abused him and called his accomplices and destroyed the furniture in the shop. He smashed the refrigerator and the counter with an iron rod. Meanwhile, Sutar had closed his shop and was standing outside.

Then the accused also vandalized the medical shop saying “Why are you standing and watching?”. Shende also stole Rs 3,800 from the medical store. When Sutar objected to the accused, he beat him up with an inverted scythe. They also tore down a nearby salon and chicken shop.
