Pune: Women held with marijuana worth Rs 51,000 in Tukai Nagar

Pune: A 59-year-old woman was arrested for alleged possession of 2 kg 560 gm of marijuana worth Rs 51,000 in Tukai Nagar slum area on Monday (February 8), police said. Based on atip-off, the Sinhagad Road police arrested the accused carrying over 2.5 kilograms of marijuana.

The accused identified as Nanda Pawar, age 59, resident of Hingane Khurd alleged that the consignment was given by her son Mahesh. Police Constable Ruby Abraham has lodged a complaint in this regard. According a case has been registered against her son Mahesh in this regard.

Additional Public Prosecutor Rajshri Kadam also demanded that she be remanded in police custody for further investigation. Accordingly, the court remanded her to police custody till February 11.

The accused has been booked under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act, the police said.
