Pune Unseasonal Rainfall: Light showers expected in two days

Pune: Pune may witness light to moderate rains on Thursday (January 7) and Friday (January 8), the weather department has informed. According to the weather forecast, the weather will be cloudy and the city and some parts of the Pune district may report showers in the next 48 hours.
A low-pressure belt has been formed from the southern part of Central Maharashtra to Karnataka and in the eastern part of the Arabian Sea. Therefore, the weather will remain cloudy in the state and light showers are expected at isolated places. The weather department has predicted light to moderate rains in the state till Sunday.
The weather in Pune was cloudy from the last two days. The daytime temperature was recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius which was 1.2 degrees Celsius below normal. The minimum temperature, however, rose sharply at 9.2 degrees Celsius above average. Meanwhile, the weather department has also predicted heavy rains in parts of Konkan and Central Maharashtra.
Indian Meteorological Department on their official Twitter handle wrote, “A trough in low level easterlies at lower levels runs from East Central Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast to south Madhya Maharashtra & due to active easterly wave spell, scattered/fairly widespread precipitation with thunderstorm over south peninsular India during next 4-5 days.”
