Pune: Ujani dam reaches 100%, Dams overflow

After heavy rainfall in Pune, Ujani dam which was 90% full due to rainfall is now completely 100% full. Heavy rainfall in Pune since last few months has once again become the cause leading to overflow of Dams. Dams like Varsagaon, Panshet, and Khadakwasla have been constantly releasing cusecs of water to rivers due to the unbearable pressure of water.

10 thousand cusecs of water have been released by the Khadakwasla dam into the Mutha River till date. On Sunday, 18 thousand 491 cusecs of water were released to Bhide river which is almost full now. Ujani dam, which can accommodate 100 TMC water is only left with storage of 51 TMC. Therefore, 90% of the dam is already filled.

Ujani dam which was witnessing continuous rainfall since past few days and was suspected that will be 100% filled as now reached 100% and now left with minimum TMC of storage.
Varsagaon, Panshet, and Khadakwsla dams are almost 100% full. The riverside roads were closed, due to the overflow of rivers. The vehicles could not pass by. Commoners also faced a lot of problems traveling as the roads were blocked. 5136 cusecs of water have been released on Saturday around 10 am from Khadakwasla dam.

Being Raksha Bandhan on Sunday, people found it difficult to travel with family as most of the riverside roads were closed due to the excessive overflow of water. All the dams in Pune are overflowing with water.

Apart from Khadakwasla, Panshet, and Varsagaon, many other dams have overflowed due to non-stop rain showers in Pune. Manikdoh, Vadiwale, Andra, Pawna, Nira Deoghar, Bhatghar and Veer, Kalmadi, Chas Kaman such dams are already 100% full.
The Khadakwasla dam is left with storage of 1.97 TMC, Temghar is 62.73% filled with water and is left with storage of 2.33 TMC of water; Panshet is left with 10.65 TMC storage of water and is already 100% full. Almost all the dams have either been completely filled with water or have been overflowed.
