Pune / Baramati: In a shooting incident, two sons of a former chairman of Someshwar co-operative sugar mill in Baramati taluka and three others have been booked for an attempt to murder at Nimbut village in Baramati taluka.

The incident was a result of a deal-gone-sour over a bullock used in bullock cart races. Ranjit Eknath Nimbalkar, a resident of Phaltan taluka, was seriously injured in the firing. The Vadgaon Nimbalkar Police have booked brothers Gautam Shahajirao Kakade and Gaurav Shahajirao Kakade and three unidentified youths.

They are sons of former Someshwar co-operative sugar mill chairman Shahajirao Mugutrao Kakade. Gaurav and one more person have been detained.

The incident took place between 11 pm on Thursday and 2 am on Friday. Ankita Ranjit Nimbalkar (23) lodged a complaint in this regard. According to the complaint, Ranjit bought a bullock, Sarja, from Gautam a year ago.

On Monday, Gautam and Santosh Todkar visited Ranjit to buy the latter’s bullock, Sundar. Gautam paid Rs 5 lakh and brought the animal to his native village, Nimbut. On Thursday, Ranjit visited Nimbut to collect the remaining Rs 32 lakh. However, he did not get it. Gautam called him at 11 pm on Thursday to make the payment. Ranjit, accompanied by his wife Ankita, daughter Ankuran, Vaibhav Bharat Kadam, Pintu Prakash Jadhav, visited Gautam’s residence. Gautum confronted Ranjit saying, “Why did you say that I refused to pay? I will pay you tomorrow morning. You sign on the stamp paper.”

To this, Ranjit replied, “Please pay the remaining amount or take the advance money back. I want the bullock back.” This enraged Gautam, who called his brother Gaurav and three others. He charged at Ranjit and abused him. Gaurav pulled out a pistol and fired a round of bullet at Ranjit’s head.
