Pune: Two brothers arrested for stealing 19 laptops, 63 mobile phone in 15 days

Pune: Two brothers who used to steal laptops, mobile phones and smart watches in the Vishrantwadi area have been arrested. They used to target open houses and paying guest accommodations.

Valuables worth Rs 32 lakh have been seized from their possession. They included 19 laptops, 63 mobile phones and four smart watches. The duo committed these thefts within jurisdictions of five police stations in a span of 15 days.

The accused have been identified as Babu Rammurti Boyar (29) and Suresh Rammurti Boyar (24), both residents of Loni Kalbhor, hailing from Andhra Pradesh.

According to the police, three mobile phones and a laptop were stolen from a house in Tingre Nagar within the jurisdiction of the Vishrantwadi Police Station on June 5. Three laptops and seven mobile phones were stolen from a paying guest house on June 9. Cases were registered at the respective police stations.

During the investigation, policeman Sanjay Badre got a tip-off that two suspects stealing laptops and mobile phones were moving near the Dhanori mines. Sr PI Kanchan Jadhav instructed to set a trap in the area.

They were carrying a bag, which was checked, in which four laptops and seven mobile phones were found. On sustained interrogation, they admitted to have stolen them. Later, the police searched their residence and found laptops, handsets, including 14 iPhones, and watches worth Rs 32 lakh, which were confiscated.

Sr PI Kanchan Jadhav and Sr PI Shankar Salunkhe guided a team comprising PSI Nitin Rathod, policemen Baban Vanave, Deepak Chavan, Yashwant Kirve, Waman Sawant, Sanjay Badre, Sampat Bhosale, Sandip Devkate, Shekhar Kharade, Akshay Chapte and Kishor Bhusar took the action.
