Pune Solar Energy Projects | Solar energy power projects in Pune generating 254 mw power

PUNE : Pune Solar Energy Projects | The MSEDCL has given a boost to solar power generation projects and due to the good response in Pune zone, 10,170 solar projects generating 253.94 mw electricity have become operational. Maximum projects are individual and also include 72 mw solar projects of domestic 7,580 customers. Work on 3,580 projects of 96.79 MW capacity are being executed.

The Central government is providing a subsidy of up to 40 per cent for installation of solar power generation equipment (rooftop) for domestic category consumers (domestic, housing societies and resident welfare organisations). To implement this scheme, Chairman and MD of MSEDCL Vijay Singhal is constantly doing a review. Director (projects) Prasad Reshme has visited various zones and speeded up the projects.

For domestic consumers, a subsidy up to 40 per cent is being offered from 1 to 3 kw and 20 per cent subsidy for more than 3 kw up to 10 kw. For example, for a solar power system of 3 kw capacity, an expenditure of ₹1.24 lakh is involved and the customer will have to spend ₹74,400. For group use, up to 500 kw with a limit of 10 kw for each customer and a subsidy of 20 per cent is being given to customers in housing societies and resident welfare associations.

In the Pune zone, till now, in high and low voltage category, 7,580 domestic consumers- 72 mw, 1,364 commercial- 36.11 mw, 641 indistrial-110.28 mw and 585 consumers – 35.55 mw capacity rooftop solar projects have become operational. The setting up of 2,880 domestic of 17.83 mw, 343 commercial of 15.01 mw, 224 industrial of 55.64 mw and 133 other projects of 8.31 mw solar power projects is underway.
The rooftop solar power projects have been speeded up in the Pune zone. A solar power project has been installed on the rest house in Ganeshkhind and engineers and technical staff have been given training.

Representatives of 45 agencies of Saur have been given special training. A joint workshop of assistant engineers of 41 sub divisional offices and representatives of Saur agencies was held recently.

Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar said, “Because of the rooftop solar power projects, there is significant reduction in the electricity bills of individual consumers and housing societies and they are benefitting financially. The cost of setting up the project is recovered in four-five years and it is beneficial for 2 years. Apart from this, through net metering, at the end of the year, the remaining power is purchased by MSEDCL per unit. The consumers should take the benefit of rooftop solar power scheme to reduce their electricity bill and also because it is environment-friendly.”
