Pune Smart City wins Business World Best Smart City India Award

Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) has another feather on its cap post winning the ‘Best Smart City India Award’ at the recently concluded 6th BW Business World Smart Cities Conclave & Awards 2018 in New Delhi. Dr. Rajendra Jagtap, CEO, PSCDCL along with Manojit Bose, CKO PSCDCL received the prestigious award in New Delhi on behalf of Pune Smart City and Punekars.

 

The award was conferred upon Pune Smart City by Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary, Hon. Minister of Urban Development, Govt. Of Himachal Pradesh who deeply appreciated the initiatives taken up by PSCDCL. After accepting the award, Chief Executive Officer of Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited Dr. Rajendra Jagtap said, “Receiving the Best Smart City India Award on behalf of Punekars is a special moment. We are very happy to receive this award, and this has certainly boosted our enthusiasm and has given us an impetus to plan and implement value added technology related projects for the benefit of the city of Pune.”

 

At the 6th Smart Cities Conclave & Awards ceremony held at Hotel Shangri-La in New Delhi, Dr. Jagtap was also a panelist on the Panel Discussion “Importance of Innovative Solutions in Urban Modernization & Ease of Living”. Dr. Jagtap empathetically explained, “Pune had taken many innovative initiatives that have now started taking shape.” He talked about the Integrated Command and Control Centre that connects every possible department with each other, for example, police, transport and fire department. He also discussed that the database of road connectivity has helped the local municipality for budgeting on roads with much precision and accuracy. Dr. Jagtap also talked about various incubation centers at the helm of Pune Smart City’s plan and vision. He also spoke regarding 70 to 80 per cent geotagging implementation of all properties in the city.

 

Chief Knowledge Officer, PSCDCL Mr. Manojit Bose, gave a special presentation on Pune Idea Factory Foundation (PIFF) at the Smart Cities Conclave. He also moderated the panel discussion on the topic “Technology Transforming Urban Mobility & its Accessibility. ” On this new accolade that Pune Smart City has won, he was quoted saying, ‘The efforts being made by Pune Smart City not only in driving implementation of various technology and infra projects but also in undertaking various measures to drive innovation in partnership with the industry and academia are getting noticed and acknowledged at different levels. This award is certainly extremely encouraging and is a result of the support which we have been receiving from our stakeholders.’

 

Panel Discussions on various topics were organized at the event, that included topics like “Smart Healthcare, Efficient Waste Management & Water Management for Smart Cities”, “Leveraging Technology for Safety, Security & Citizen Centric Services” and industry presentations on “Emerging Technologies in Smart Cities”, “Connectivity in Lighting – The Next Paradigm Shift”.
