Pune rural police arrests 2 men for duping money

PUNE: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- Pune rural police has nabbed two men for cheating a man of Rs 2 lakh. The two accused had convinced the victim to hand over a bag worth Rs 2 lakh in exchange for a cheque in the premises of a private bank in Shikrapur.

According to the local crime branch, they both are identified as Abbas Saifuddin Ukani alias Dattatray Sonu Shinde, 44, and Mukesh Parmeshwar Menon, 54, residents of Vasai East area in Palghar.

Police caught the Menon in a black Scorpio where they also discovered 80,000 cash along with some mobile phones. The total recovery was worth 5,09,000.

After the occurrence in Shikrapur bank, within days the police came across a similar case registered in Shirur.

While investigating the issue, police officials checked various CCTV cameras where police found a repetition of similar cheating cases in Aurangabad, Nashik, Sangli and some parts of Pune.

The two accused have confessed to having committed eight crimes including two in Pune rural area, three in Aurangabad, two in Nashik and one in Sangli.

Also, they are accused of eight cases in Maharashtra and twenty in Gujarat. According to the reports, both of them have travelled places by air and are suspected to have committed similar crimes in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, West Bengal, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
