The MVA Government had approved Rs 1500 crore for the ring road project during this year’s budget session. Former finance minister and former guardian minister of Pune Ajit Pawar had made an announcement. The project, considered to be Ajit Pawar’s pet project, has not been cancelled by the present Shinde-Fadnavis government. Hence, even after the removal of the MVA Government, funds have been allocated for the project. At present, the monsoon session of the state assembly is going on and CM Eknath Shinde made an announcement regarding the allocation of Rs 250 crore for the project. Due to this, the land acquisition process for the project is expected to get momentum.

The district administration has already started the process of land acquisition for the project. The purchase agreement is being prepared by taking farmers into confidence. The measurement of land to be acquired for the project has already been done and the compensation has also been fixed. A decision to give compensation of five times the ready reckoner to those farmers who give up their land on their own, has been taken earlier.

The MSRDC has planned the project to reduce the traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. The project has been divided into two parts i.e. east and west.

The east part includes 11 villages from Maval, 12 villages from Khed, 15 villages from Haveli, five villages from Purandar and five villages from Bhor.

The west part includes five villages from Bhor, 11 villages from Haveli, 15 villages from Mulshi and six villages from Maval.

The ring road project is expected to pass through Maval, Mulshi, Khed, Haveli, Purandar and Bhor talukas. Prant officers have been appointed in these villages for land acquisition. The state government has approved this project and it has been designated as a state highway.
