Pune Rickshaw Strike | Call for chakka jam protest in front of RTO office by autorickshaw unions

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Rickshaw Strike | A strike was called once again on Monday by some autorickshaw unions in Pune. The bandh was called against ‘Bike Rapido’. Earlier, on November 28, the auto men had called a strike on the similar issue. The Chakka Jam protest was held in front of the RTO office.

Passenger traffic on two-wheelers should be stopped. The autorickshaw unions said this is causing losses to them. The ‘Baghtoy Rikshawala’ union has taken an aggressive stance against illegal bike taxis. On November 28, the ‘Baghtoy Rickshawala’ had called an indefinite strike against the illegal bike taxis in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad area and held a massive protest. The rickshaw unions withdrew the strike after an assurance by the administration and Pune guardian minister Chandrakant Patil.

The District Collector has appealed to the rickshaw associations not to call a bandh.
He clarified that the district administration is following up with the home and transport departments to ban the illegal and unlicensed bike taxi app operating in the state. “Therefore, to avoid inconvenience to the citizens, rickshaw pullers should not protest on December 12,” collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh requested.

In the wake of the agitation by the rickshaw pullers, Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil has given instructions to form a committee under the chairmanship of the District Collector to consider the demands of the rickshaw pullers.

The committee consists of Regional Transport Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Branch), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) and Sub-Regional Transport Officer.

In the meeting held on December 7, this committee has instructed the police to follow up on the action on the bike taxi app.
